21.07.06 | Telekom Austria Deploys Nuance Speech Solution for its Customer Care Service
Systems Integrator CreaLog Relies on Text-to-Speech and Speech Recognition Solutions from Nuance to Automate Customer Care Center, Handling over 30,000 Calls per Day
AACHEN, Germany, July 21, 2006– Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), a global leader in speech and imaging solutions, today announced that its software solutions are being used to power an innovative speech portal that manages more than 30,000 customer enquiries daily for Telekom Austria. The project was implemented by CreaLog, a leading solution-house for voice portals, CTI solutions and unified messaging for telecommunications call centers, banks and insurance and utility companies.
Through this Nuance-powered service, Telekom Austria’s customers can now receive the information they require more easily, with everything being delivered through the caller’s voice commands and dynamic, computer-generated responses. As an example, callers can check costs of services, check the status of downloads or order information material. This implementation demonstrates Nuance’s strong capabilities in high-end speech recognition and text-to-speech software, and further establishes the unmatched performance of Nuance® technology to handle high call volumes.
Telekom Austria conducted a thorough competitive process before ordering the Nuance-based solution from CreaLog. The system, after an extensive testing process, was then implemented by CreaLog in three different locations, all of them controllable by the caller’s voice. Each portal uses Nuance’s high-end text-to-speech and speech recognition software.
Telekom Austria focused on several key requirements for the new voice portal solution:
- A flexible system that where the configuration and dialog design can be easily modified
- A trouble free CTI must be integrated with the existing networked Aspect ACD solution
- Speech recognition must be of excellent quality and accuracy and the speech synthesis (text-to-speech) must closely correspond to natural language.
Alois Miedl, regional manager customer care, Telekom Austria, said, “The new capabilities and performance that this speech application brings to our hotlines means that we can handle volumes of around 30,000 customers every day, with the potential to handle many more callers. This is a great step for us in delivering much better customer service and experience for our customers.”
Michael Kloos, managing director, CreaLog, said, “The order of Telekom Austria demonstrates again our leading position in providing Voice Portals for telcos, after implementing Europe’s largest mass-calling platform for the Vodafone company ARCOR, second largest fixed-line telco provider in Germany, only a few months ago.”
Peter Hauser, general manager and senior vice president, Nuance Communications International, said, “This service further demonstrates how important speech technology has become for handling every day tasks easily while providing immediate value to callers. We are looking forward to working closely with Telekom Austria alongside our Voice Portal Partner CreaLog and we are very pleased to be part of such a high-profile and integral project.”

13.03.06 | Best of CeBIT Award for CreaLog

At CeBIT 2006 CreaLog captured the "Best of CeBIT Award 2006" for the solution "Interactive Video Response".
According to the periodical Teletalk, the extremely innovative Voice Portal solution, merging traditional Voice Portal technology and Video telephony, was unanimously chosen as this year's winner in the category speech processing. The winners in the other categories were:
Siemens Communications with "Hipath Biz IP V1.0"

CreaLog has won this Award for the second consecutive year! Last year, CreaLog received the prize for its interactive Auction-TV solution, which is already in use at two TV-stations.

Interactive Video Response as a worldwide novelty at this year's CeBIT!
Based on a multi-modal VoiceXML platform, CreaLog now merges Voice Portal applications with interactive Video telephony. CreaLog thus expands the purely acoustic Voice Portal dialog with a visual layer:
Navigation by speech recognition and response by a picture or movie sequence!
CreaLog offered an initial look at this brand-new solution at CeBIT 2006. Users of an UMTS/3G capable mobile phone experienced the dimensions of this trend-setting development live: The menu options of the Voice Portal were presented and described in small film sequences. By voice input or touch-tone, the caller navigates through the application in real time and not only hears the results but also sees them immediately on the display of his mobile! The caller can record and replay video and audio sequences, depending on the application, either synchronously or asynchronously.
Unlimited applications
Voice dialogs can now also be moderated on the Mobile display, to facilitate the operation. Mobile carriers for example, can simplify the setup of Voice or Video mailboxes substantially, by guiding the customer visually step-by-step through the menu.
But that is only one example from a broad variety of solutions for this unparalleled synthesis of Voice and Video presentation. No limits are set to emotional customer communication: cinema reservations with trailer preview and individual choice of seats, walk into a "virtual bank" or other shops or toggle through the TV program which you will later watch at home. All on a mobile UMTS/3G device.
New, exiting interactive games on the phone are another option. A completely new, emotion-filled dimension of "fun-on-the-phone" thanks to the attractive visual representation on the Mobile display and enabled by the versatile possibilities of comfortable speech recognition and control comes to life. And even better: no installation or download of software is necessary.
Technological leadership
The proven CreaLog Multimedia-Portals support all common standards such as the 3G-324M standard for interactive Multimedia services, H.245 for call control, MPEG-4 and H.263 for video and AMR and G.723 for audio. Thus attractive applications such as Video Conferencing, Video Chat, Video Voicemail or Video Streaming can be controlled by voice!
Due to high data compression, network operators and providers of value added services can offer their customers these individual, interactive services with full mass-calling capability.
The modular structure of the multi-modal VoiceXML platform from CreaLog lets you activate the Interactive Video Portal functions at short notice on any CreaLog Voice Portal.
