What may the people have thought, who end up of the 18th century a demonstration of the famous chess turk, the automatic chess player by Wolfgang von Kempelen, were allowed to attend? Is the vending machine really intelligent? Or is it all just lies and deception?
Today, we know that a hidden player moved the figure and the intelligence was fake. Nevertheless a good 200 years later, we are faced with a very similar Question: Is AI in its current form really "intelligent" in the human sense with all its implications? Simply exorbitantly overestimated or anything in between?
