Energy Provider Outage Hotline
Voice Portal Relieves Energy Provider Control Centers
When the lights suddenly go out It's an entirely ordinary Tuesday morning in the quiet town of Esslingen am Neckar. Suddenly, all the lights go out in the neighborhood around Hafenmarkt. The coffee machine at the popular Café E. stops working, the kitchen radio belonging to the Webers falls silent, and the checkout at the corner supermarket gives up. What happened? All the fuses in the distribution box are fine. Time to ask whether the neighbor next door has lost power too.
Most of those affected quickly realize this can only be a general power outage. So the fault needs to be reported to the responsible energy provider. But neither Mr. Weber nor the supermarket manager can get through on the outage hotline; the line is constantly busy. No wonder, since at least 100 other neighbors are trying to report the same power outage at the same time.
